Box Keel takes shape

Box Keel takes shape

This is a short post.   The bottom in done and we’re starting to loft the box keel.

Frank (builder) coated the hull with pigmented epoxy to protect the wood.

This was a fun step because everyone who drives by started asking why the boat turned white  (it is actually grey).

Then the second stage of lofting began.  This is really difficult stuff for me, because you have to take a drawing and convert it to a 3D object.  Frank has been pedantically careful in the design of the keel and interpretation of the drawings.

The keel houses batteries, and is the exit point of the drive shaft.  Getting it right the first time is critical.
